Who are lessons for?
Whoever wants to learn and is willing to make a commitment to improving their guitar ability! Please see below to see a breakdown of age ranges covered, core values, lesson options and an overview of skills learned.

Teaching children
Over the years, I’ve specialised in teaching children and have provided countless classes for children of all ages from 5yrs through to young adults. My background was working with young children at a Montessori nursery so I understand the importance of encouragement, patience and empowerment from an early age and working with all different age groups comes naturally to me.

Teaching adults
Lessons for adults are also very much welcomed. I have many years experience teaching adults too and the core goal remains the same. The lesson content and approach is always tailored to the individual.

Core values
Classes will always be held in a positive and relaxed environment with a patient focus on the process. Paired, with a functional focus to our playing, we can see practical results from the start. Mistakes are embraced and to be learned from, this is fundamental to staying motivated. These values have helped me guide the journey of so many students, whether it be for weeks, months or years at a time.
What will I learn?
You can expect to learn a wide variety of skills to help improve your playing in the most practical way possible. See below to get an idea.

Technical skills
This is the ‘how to physically play’ part. Skills range from correct picking and fretting, smooth strumming and more advanced techniques involved in fingerpicking and soloing.

Songs, songs, songs
Learning songs is a great way to stay engaged and see immediate evidence of your progress. Songs can be suggested by you or set by me, whichever we decide. Students will get familiar with chords and reading tab as a result.

How to improvise
Good improvisation is about the confidence to know where and what you’d like to play in real time. Essential to this is mapping out the fretboard using scales, not for the sake of it but with a practical focus. We will also gain an understanding of the most essential and practical of music theory to help fortify the backbone of your playing so you can play with freedom.
